I’m currently living behind the Great Fire Wall of China. Recently I just begun a journey learning to use Chinese social media sites. The sites I’ll be using are Weibo - China’s equivalent to Twitter and Youku China’s equivalent to YouTube.
The sites are divided in which ones carries postings only in English and other sites which will mainly be in Chinese.
I look forward to sharing some of my amusing and thought-provoking
experiences in Chinese cyberspace.

Got a great tip today while reading Alyson Stanfield’s Art Biz Blog. Her post about Pinterest, Is the Pinterest Problem Really a Problem? included an update on Kirsten Kowalski’s Why I Tearfully Deleted My Pinterest Inspiration Boards, which as you may know, is a topic of interest to me.

Looks like Tumblr is up there when it comes to the amount of time people spend on social media sites, tied with the ever-growing Pinterest.
The above is an infographic based on research firm comScore Inc.’s study into the current social networking sphere, but we need to keep in mind that this data does not take in to consideration mobile usage, which could really alter the results, especially for Facebook and Twitter.
Popular Chinese Web payment platform Alipay has announced that its mobile apps have passed 30 million downloads with 60,000 new activations taking place per day, according to a Donews report [Chinese] cited by Penn Olson. Equally as impressive is the fact that the revenue generated from the apps has increased six-fold over the last twelve months, although no total revenue rate is supplied by Alipay.
